Sandalwood is a class of wood from trees of the genus Santalum. The woods are heavy, yellow and thin, and unlike many other aromatic woods, they retain their fragrance for decades. Sandalwood trees in India are government property and their harvest is controlled. Indian sandalwood is very sacred in Hindu Ayurveda and is known in Sanskrit as Chandana. The wood is used to worship the god Shiva, and it is believed that the goddess Lakshmi lives in the sandalwood tree. It is believed that the scent of sandalwood has the power to transform one's desires and maintain one's alert state during meditation. 

Ganesha is the head of the elephant in a human body and in Hindu tradition he is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. He's known as the obstacle remover. People pray particularly to Ganesh when they start new projects, businesses and visions.
